Create a Project 2000 CD with integrated Service Release 1
Requirements
1. Project 2000
2.
Service Release 1 - P9SR1.EXE (10MB)
3. Latest Windows Installer. Details here.
(The SR-1 patch to Project Central 2000 does not support the administrative install. It will have to be applied after installation.)
Extract the files from Service Release 1. At the "Run" command, use the /C switch.
P9SR1.EXE /C
Extract the files to E:\Update\
(Alternatively, you can use "P9SR1.EXE /C /T:E:\Update", which will automatically extract the files to said directory)
Copy the Project 2000 CD to E:\Project2k\ Remove the read only attributes from all files and folders.
Apply the patch using the following windows installer switches. Click here for an explanation of various switches and a link to MSI errors codes.
At the "Run" command type -
msiexec /p E:\Update\msprjsr1.msp /a E:\Project2k\install.msi shortfilenames=true /qb
Auto-include your Project 2000 CD key.
Open setup.ini and locate the following section
[Options]
; If a value is present, the [Options] section gives the values of properties to
apply to
; this installation. Specify them in the format:
; PropName=PropValue
; Remember to uncomment both the section name and the value names.
;
;USERNAME=Customer
PIDKEY=ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXY
Uncomment the [Options] line and add the PIDKEY line, using the 25 digit key on your CD.
You now have an administrative installation point for Project 2000 SR-1. Transfer to a rewritable CD and update when patches are released. The CD label is trivial, so use the original Project 2000 CD label.
