The two beautiful creatures lay down in my room. I keep an eye on both of them as I run wires from the reciever to each of the 9 speakers. My cat gently bats at the carpet before she lays on her side, paws outstretched. My girl closes her eyes as she lays down on the bed with her hands by her face on the pillow. I can see the soft fur slowly rise and fall with each tired breath of my cat. My girl's moves her head slightly to reach a lazy utopia in which she feels safe enough to sleep. Both slip away, into a land of hopes and dreams, far away from the harsh reality that they are forced to live in. On one hand, a cat thrown into a new house, unware of what dangers could lie around each of the countless corners. On the other, a girl, oppressed by her parents and expected to live a life not her own, but rather the ideal life her mother wishes her to live. Both are soon asleep. Her body tenses up for a second, then relaxes in an innocent, mid-dream stretch. I wish I could see what she dreams as a smile spreads across her face. I lean down and kiss her, trying my hardest not to destroy the happiness she has found. I take one last look at quite possibly the most beautiful thing I will ever see and return to my work. As I strip wires, I gaze upon her hoping that I can just once give her that much relief from the pain of everyday life. |
