On August 12th, 2001. We met at Canadian Tire in Dieppe. The run started in Hillborough, followed the train tracks to Dark Side of the Moon. From there we had a bite at the very dry Mine Taillings. We then took the Caledonia Mtn Rd to Crooked Creek Falls. We had a few stock vehicles that were pushed to their limits. Here are some pics of the run..... |
![]() This is how it started....read the license plate! We were at Dark Side of the Moon when he decided to back down a little hill, the hill decided to take a souvenir..... |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is where the fun started. All the first 4x4's were short wheel base. I wasn't even sure if the long ones could fit in the pass. The first pic is of my father passing the hole. No problems. The next to pass, my brother with his Lada, now I've seen Lada's go through bad mud holes but never have much articulation. He made a couple of attemps, no traction, at the end he made a running leap of faith, he broke the seat support bars but no other damage.... |
![]() ![]() ![]() Here's Janice and Donny's with their bone stock Tracker with road tires. This was their first try at some challenging obsticles for a stock 4x4....Didn't even need a second try he just gave it lots of Crazy Pedal and up he went.... |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is Nathalie and her man, the first to cross the hole in a full size...other than the size of the truck, the hole wasn't an issue, no spinning no problem. Oh! The joys of a long wheel base vehicle.... |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is Harvey in one very big Dodge...coming to within inches of the trees....but no problem after he put the truck in 4x4. |
![]() ![]() ![]() The last shot was MidTown, he went though so fast I had no time to take some pictures....he must be a little camera shy..... |
![]() This is Dark Side of the Moon...2min from the heart of Hillborough....The first time I came here was in the beginnning of winter. Its more of a challenge with 4" of snow on the ground....Watch out for those Sink Holes. |
![]() This is the Mine Taillings where on an average day many trucks will get stuck in the as you can see very dry hole....The ruts in the middle of the screen are where the KrazyMan got stuck. Hard to imagine that was just a month ago. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is the entrance to Crooked Creek Falls, hard to see in the pic but there's a nice off camber hill you have to get up to get to the falls...The last pic was Nat and her man, full size truck can get in but have a hard time to turn around.....So they had to walk. |
![]() ![]() The first pic is of the Falls camping area, looking at the pics you can see some stupid kids left a fire burning, it took some time to extinguish the coals....beautifull spot. |
![]() ![]() ![]() The first pic is ZukiMoo at the lookout on a prior outing, the second is ZukiMoo at the falls. On the last pic, my brother is going up that off camber hill at the entrance of the falls.... |
![]() ![]() The first pic is of the river at Crooked Creek. The second is of ZukiMoo at the Falls..... |
