Interview With A Jedi...

Jedi Training

"Our years together began with training, both physical and mental. I was the student - he was the master. I had such respect for Qui Gon. He was both a father figure and a friend. He taught me to use a lightsaber and trained me in the ways of The Force. But there were times when I felt he was keeping things from me. I did everything he asked and, though he claimed I was headstrong, I felt I had thrown myself into his power and worked to be a man he could come to respect as I respected him. But his silences angered me, seeming to hold evil portents that gnawed at my mind. It took all my strength and Jedi training to honor Qui Gon's wish for privacy on these matters."

"And then a day arrived that fulfilled all my fears. In a meeting with the Jedi council, Qui Gon explained to Yoda that he had nothing more to teach me and would be taking a young boy, Anakin Skywalker, as his apprentice. As much as I appreciated his faith in my ability to pass the trials and become a Jedi Knight, a part of me felt abandoned. Our relationship would no longer be the same and I felt like I was losing him. He still had his secrets and I felt like a pawn in a game I didn't fully understand."
