GAME OF THE WEEK: 14 more yards. That's all Herschel Walker needed to go along
with his two touchdowns to prevent Dave Bratcher from suffering his fifth
straight loss. Calvin Jackson was tired and quite relieved. He held on for
a 32-31 win. This was the fourth game that Bratcher could either had won or lost
on Monday night. Week 1 it was Gary Clark lifting Bob Wallace to a one point
win. Week 2 saw Mark Higgs score on the final play of the game to give Dick
Peil the win. In week three, the Bears Quarterbacks and Rodney Hampton had
productive first halves, but were shut down in the second leaving Bratcher four
behind Brian Ricker.
Speaking of Ricker, He's 5-0 and has a four game lead over his division rivals.
He defeated Berger/Browell 32-9. Steve Czupryna remained 5-0 by winning a
Stroupe-like game over who else, Tim Stroupe 22-13. Czupryna's win helped
his son-in-law, Mike Talbot take over first in the division. Talbot defeated
Bob Wallace 33-16. Jones/Klingman got big numbers from Dan Marino for the
first time this year and defeated Alan Outlaw 31-20. Tom Best, scoring big,
but still in the West cellar, crushed Dick Peil 57-19.
