Game of the week:
The buzz in the league this week was about the acquisition of Rodney Hampton
and Herschel Walker by Bob Wallace from Dave Bratcher. The duo, Bratcher's
two top draft picks, scored 7 points and contributed to a 23-23 tie
with (who else) Tim Stroupe. It could be said that Wallace's trade was less
a factor in the outcome than was Stroupe's decision to play Tampa Bay Qbs (1 TD)
at New Orleans rather than the New York Jets (3 TDs). Ironically, it was the
opposite situation in Stroupe's other tie (week 2, 41-41 vs Talbot); He played
the Jets when he should have played Tampa.

Czupryna moves pay off:
Plagued by low scores in a five game stretch in which he amazingly went 4-1,
Steve Czupryna shook up his lineup by switching quarterbacks and by making a
last minute acquisition for Dalton Hilliard. The result was a 45-29 victory
over Mike Talbot. The moves resulted in a 24 point swing. Czupryna favored the
Rams Quarterbacks at Atlanta over his usual Dallas. Jim Everett passed for 4
TD versus 2 for Dallas. Hilliard was starting place of usual Czupryna starter
Vaughan Dunbar at New Orleans and Czupryna was quick to pick up on that. The
result was 12 points for Hilliard.

Ricker Champagne still chilling:
No clinching party for Brian Ricker yet. Jones/Klingman popped him 37-15. A
distant second place Dick Peil stayed alive by upsetting Calvin Jackson 38-13.
A less far fetched scenario exists in the East as Stroupe and Jones gained on
Talbot. The margin is a game and a half, same as in the West.

Win costly for Best
Tom Best finally had the satifaction of defeating office rival Dave Bratcher,
but the his quarterback, Chris Miller, suffered a season-ending knee injury.
Best still leads the league in scoring, but stands third in the West.

Outlaw in the Outhouse
One team is now officially eliminated from divisonal contention: Alan Outlaw.
Outlaw scored respectably in the early season when Philadelphia was passing
and Chicago was running. Now both teams are slumping and Outlaw has lost six
straight. Berger/Browell delivered the latest blow, 25-11. The win was the
second of the year for BB, leaving Outlaw, 1-8, alone at the bottom.
