1992 Week 11 Results
THIS WEEK IN THE BRFL 11/20/92 Week 12
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Along Comes Jones...Closes in on Talbot
Things are considerably tighter in the East. Jones/Klingman defeated Mike
Talbot this weekend 30-9 to close within a half game. Jones was led by the Miami
Qbs who threw two in the Monday night game and Cleveland Gary, who netted his
usual 13 points. Jones has now won three straight and four of five. Also,
Berger/Browell eliminated Tim Stroupe from contention by a score of 23-13.
ERicker ClinchesF
It is all over in the Central. Brian Ricker, after taking his time the last
couple weeks, has defeated Dick Peil, ending Peils run at the division title.
Ricker went with KC Quarterbacks and the unstoppable Emmitt Smith. The final was
40-11. For the next three weeks, the woeful central teams can play out the string,
and Ricker can fatten-up his record hoping for a home field advantage. Memo
to Brian: the division winner with the best record has to play the wild card winner
in week 16. In the game of the weak, Outlaw defeated Bratcher 21-8 in a game that
was most notable for players that Outlaw didn't play: Two touchdowns each from
Neal Anderson, Derrick Fenner and Kenneth Davis.
EGame of the week:F
And thank you Kenneth Davis. If Thurman Thomas had scored those two touchdowns,
it would have have been a different story in the Wild, Wild West. As it is,
Calvin Jackson defeated Steve Czupryna 42-34. Credit an 8-point performance
from Mark Jackson in the Sunday night game to keep Czupryna at bay. In the other
game, Tom Best silenced Bob Wallace 53-9: the only game this year to make both
the honor and dishonor roll. With Best and Jackson winning, the West gets tighter.
Czupryna still has a game and half lead over second place Wallace, but Best and
Jackson are within two games.
ELooking aheadF
The key games in the league this week are in the West, a division full of long
standing franchises and rivalries. Czupryna and Wallace, last years Super Bowl teams,
lick their wounds and hope to reassert themselves. A Czupryna victory wraps
up a playoff spot. Best and Jackson meet for the 10th time since 1988 in what
has been one of the most entertaining series through the years. Best holds a
5-4 edge, but Jackson won in week 2, 50-15. Since both are 7-4, Best needs
this game more. In the East, Jones/Klingman and Talbot hope for the best against
the division also-rans before they meet again in week 14.
