HISTORIC LOW SCORES IN WEEK 2
After a high scoring opening week, scores in the league took a tumble - a huge
tumble. Two of the three lowest scores in league history were recorded in week
2. WALLACE lost 14-2 to BRATCHER and GATES scored no points losing to RICKER who
had 43. The shutout was the second in league history; in 1991 Talbot lost to
Best 12-0.
BERGER/BROWELL are having a hard time tracking the progress of the player
they have that wears number 81 for the Cleveland Browns. They drafted him as
"Michael Jackson", but he changed his name to "Michael Dyson". He scored in
week 1 and all the necessary corrections were made to all league records.
In week 2, B/B needed a touchdown from "Michael Dyson" to win going into Monday's
game with JONES/KLINGMAN. Instead, "Michael Jackson" scored the touchdown and
B/B got his 24-17 win. Jackson/Dyson is not sure what name he will play under
next week. Calvin JACKSON, who decided to stay Jackson, might consider changing
his name after a dismal 18-10 loss to TALBOT performance where many of his goal
line guys were not given the ball. Particulary dismaying was a Cleveland
Defensive tackle scoring on a play that was supposed to go to "Touchdown"
Tommy Vardell. Jackson should blame the San Francisco QBs for not getting in
the end zone and BEST will also as Jerry Rice didn't score. The only guy
that profited from the dismal SF performance was first place MONTGOMERY
who got points from Mike Cofer to break a tie and defeat Best 32-25.
Emmittless Stroupe was visited by more hard luck: as low man, he got his pick
of the free agents. He selected Lorenzo Neal, of New Orleans who promptly
broke his ankle and is lost for the year. OUTLAW contributed to his misery
by pounding him 50-19. Finally, the leagues old men squared off and PEIL
discovered that if you score 40, you win sometimes. (He scored 41 last week and
lost). The victim was CZUPRYNA with 27, a score high enough to have beaten
8 teams this week. Ah, but it is all in the luck of the schedule. Last year
CZ scored in the 20's five straight weeks and won every one.
