GATES RISES FROM THE ASHES - TALBOT STILL HOT
GATES has won 4 in a row after an 0-3 start. Shrewd pick-ups such as Lewis Tillman
and favorable scheduling have raised Gates from 14th to 6th place. His latest
victim was JONES/KLINGMAN 36-12.
TALBOT continued his winning ways. He had been doing it with out much help from
the Houston QBs, but they may be back on track and have an easy schedule ahead.
BERGER/BROWELL fell to him 33-27. MONTOGOMERY reclaimed 2nd place by walloping
Outlaw 48-14. The Rams have scored 30 points in the two games Montgomery has used
them. CZUPRYNA slipped to third, but still won. He beat WALLACE 21-16 in a low
scoreing - "Wallace type game". Houston D/ST provided the margin of victory.
Scoring was up, as 46 points by STROUPE was only the third highest in the league.
He beat BEST 46-24. Best has lost 3 straight. JACKSON beat RICKER in a close
one 24-19. Carl Pickens becomes the first player on the splinter squad since
week 2.
PEIL is famous for scoring at least 40 and losing. Make it 39 as Bratcher won
51-39. It was the first game this season where both quarterbacks scored three
touchdowns. Atlants got Peil 3 on Thursday night, but Cleveland matched it for
Bratcher on Sunday.
Power ratings and spread debut:
Each team is now assigned a power ranking. The power ranking is 12 times the
number of wins + 6 times the number of ties + the total number of bonus points.
Bonus points are assigned based on each weekly score. The top scorer of the
league recieves 14 and so on to the lowest score of the week recieves 1 point.
The spread is a little more complex - based on Average ranking per week and
the difference each ranking represents in points. See next page for example.

Peil Vs Gates
Power Ranking - Win (X 12) Ties (X 6) = Bonus /Games
Peil: 92 24 6 62.0 7 = 8.9
Gates 94 - 48 0 46.0 7 = 6.6
Average Top Score 48 - Average low score 8 = 40 /12 (extrapolation) Each position equals 3.3
Therefore: Peil 8.9 - Gates 6.6 = 2.3 . 2.3 x 3.3 = 7.5 - Peil is favored by 7.5.
