"CLASH OF THE TITANS?": TALBOT 18 MONTY 11
39-38 - a great score this week. The TALBOT / MONTGOMERY game, right? Wrong.
The hype said this was the BRFL game of the year, and it turns out to be a real
dog, 18-11. Despite the ugly win, Talbot claims first place by one game and a
tie breaker over both Montgomery and Czupryna.
This was the biggest Splinter Squad of the year: BRATCHER acquires Alvin Harper
and sits him (13) and Leonard Russell (6) down and loses to GATES 39-38. WALLACE
fails to start a couple guys including Gary Clark to match JACKSON's QBs and
falls 25-16. BEST switches QBs from Green Bay to the LA Raiders and watches
PEIL'S Marcus Allen dive over in the fourth quarter on Monday night to steal
a 22-18 victory. Green Bay scored right after that. Not only can Best blame
himself, He can blame the officials for not calling a Reggie Brooks TD and he
can blame his own team: Junior Seau (San Diego LB) had a clear path to a
touchdown on a fumble return when he was dragged down by a Minnesota Receiver,
Best's own Cris Carter.
CZUPRYNA won the rematch of last year's Super Bowl with RICKER 46-31. OUTLAW's
two game win streak is over, BERGER/BROWELL won 31-21. The departed Alvin Harper
and his 13 points might have made a difference. Incidentally, the only other time
Harper scored this year, he had 13 in week 1 while riding Outlaw's pine. Another
year's worth of bragging rights has been secured as STROUPE defeated JONES/
KLINGMAN 38-31. Stroupe is now 5-0 lifetime against Jones. The defeat was
J/K's sixth straight, but there is a sign of improvement: its the first time they
have scored more than 30 since week 1.
