Week 6 THIS WEEK IN THE BRFL (revised) October 13, 1994
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
JACKSON PLAGUED BY BAD LUCK, OFFICIALS AND GHOSTS OF BRFL PLAYERS PAST
1
A game between two teams in the lower rungs of the standings does not usually Ricker 43 Berger-Browell 25
merit much attention, but this one is one that will probably be discussed Stroupe 44 Czupryna 12
around the lunch tables of the Triangle Factory Shops for as long as there is Montgomery 36 Jackson 31
a BRFL. The game came down to the last two touchdowns scored on a Monday night Talbot 31 Peil 6
and involved a player that was key to a deal that went sour between the two Best 32 Gates 17
teams. JACKSON was leading MONTGOMERY 31-21 going into the Monday Viking/Giant Deitrich 24 Wallace 17
game. It should have been more as a couple of new aquisitions for Jackson came Jones/Klingman 44 Outlaw 24
very close to scoring. The Atlanta Defense took an INT down to the 4 yard line
and SR Kevin Turner had a touchdown called back just before fumbling. Jackson Week 7 (Oct 13-17)
looked good up until halftime, but then the Vikings picked a sideline pass and Berger-Browell vs Deitrich
returned it for a TD. The lead was cut to 1. The other MONTY player, Cris Czupryna vs Ricker
Carter then came into play. Carter was the key player in a week 2 deal that never Jones-Klingman vs Jackson
happened between JACKSON and MONTY. Players were acquired and lined up, and Outlaw vs Montgomery
then MONTY backed out. On Monday, former BRFL owner DAVE BRATCHER admitted that Talbot vs Best
he advised MONTY not to deal. He thought it would be ironic if Carter could Peil vs Gates
factor in the outcome of their game. He did, but not without help. Carter Wallace vs Stroupe
caught a pass and was originally ruled to be out of the end zone, but other
officials saw that he was pushed out. The call was reversed, and MONTY CLEVELAND AT HOUSTON THU 8:00
won the game 36-31. One can only speculate on JACKSON's frame of mind. SAN FRANCISCO AT ATLANTA SUN 1:00
ARIZONA AT WASHINGTON 1:00
The 4 four worst scoring teams in the league are PEIL, WALLACE, BEST and CINCINNATI AT PITTSBURGH 1:00
DIETRICH. However, they do not find themselves at the same end of the standings. INDIANAPOLIS AT BUFFALO 1:00
BEST assumed the top with a 32-16 win over GATES. DIETRICH took 2nd by beating LOS ANGELES RAIDERS AT MIAMI 1:00
WALLACE, 24-17. Luck is what wins games, not points. There is a city in Nevada NEW ENGLAND AT NEW YORK JETS 1:00
called Las Vegas that was built by people who thought they were lucky. NEW YORK GIANTS AT LOS ANGELES RAMS 4:00
PHILADELPHIA AT DALLAS 4:00
Last weeks chart topper OUTLAW got steamrolled by JONES/KLINGMAN 44-24. Emmitt SAN DIEGO AT NEW ORLEANS 4:00
Smith scored twice in his abbreviated appearance and Fred Barnett broke his KANSAS CITY AT DENVER MON 9:00
season long TD drought. There were even more points on the pine and had they BYES: MINN, DET, CHI, GB, TAMPA, SEATTLE
been in the game, perhaps J/K could have outpointed KLINGMAN's beloved ECU
Pirates. Right behind J/K is STROUPE who broke out of a scoring slump to paste
CZUPRYNA 44-12. CZ is 1-5 and looks it. No splinter squad could have helped. **************************************
