The unstoppable success of the David E. Kelley's original series has crawled with itself not only her nice and unhinged main performer, Callista Flockhart, but also has taken out of the darkness the singer and composer Vonda Shepard whose music is integrated in a flowing and very interesting way within the series, working not only in an incidental way but also commenting and supplementing the action, the way of the figure of the Choir in the classic Greek theater. This second delivery of songs of the series includes a half dozen of her own crop, among them the stupendous Read Your Mind that opens the disk and Baby, Don't You Break My Heart Slow, co-written by James Newton Howard and the best of all; next to them, good versions of very well-known pieces as Roy Orbison's Crying or John Lennon and Paul McCartney's World Without Love. Shepard, besides having a good voice, has already a numerous club of unconditionals, so the success is guaranteed. E.V.
