Joosje Willems Noortryck
ca. 1627 - ca. 1700

arabq_tj.jpg (6791 bytes)oosje Willemse was born about 1627 at Amsterdam, the daughter of some Willem. who was possibly from Noortwyck on the coast of the North Sea, and his wife Rebecca. Although she was born at Amsterdam, the record of her baptism has yet to be found, nor her parents patryonymics. She was living on the Jongeroelofsteg at the time of her first marriage to Jan Derkinderen. These intentions were recorded in the Amsterdam book of records:

Appeared Jan Derkinderen van A(msterdam) widow of Cornelia Hadderon, living (illegible) and Joosje Willemsz, van A(msterdam) ae 26 years living on the Jongeroelofsteg, assisted by her mother rebbecca willems. In the margin is a notation that he has been approved by the Weeskamer [Orphan Court] and approval was granted August 29, 1653 to marry at Sloterdyck (west of Amsterdam) on September 7, 1653.

It is uncertain whether Jan and Joosje had any children. None have been found in the Amsterdam Index to baptisms. It is also uncertain whether Jan died at Amsterdam or whether he emmigated to New Amsterdam with his wife. At any rate he was deceased by January, 1661 when she is called Joosje Willems, Wedr van Jan Verkinderen. In the 1671 deposition she is called Joosje Willemsen Noortryck of Amsterdam.

Joosje was recorded as a member of the Kingston Dutch Reformed Church in 1676 and probably outlived here husband. The date of her death is unknown but it was after 1688 when she and Willem gave a deed to sons Johannes and Willem.
