CHARLES SCOTT CAVE

Charles Scott Cave is located in West Virginia. There is over a mile of passage in the cave with only one entrance. A small stream flows through the cave and is hydrologically connected to Scott Hollow Cave but not physically. There are several climbdowns in the beginning of the cave. One has a fixed handline on it. After negotiating this climbdown, one is faced with a very tight, low crawlway in the stream passage. This can only be passed in lower-water conditions and even then it is not pleasant with low airspace in a body-sized passage. Hence this part of the cave is known as Ann's Decision. Beyond Ann's Decision, there are some areas that have some spectacular formations. One of these areas involves climbing up a handline for 20 feet into an upper level. The cave is definitely not for the faint of heart. ENJOY THE PHOTOS!
