The latest series of religious talks at the colege drew to a close recently with an animated performance by RE co-ordinator Richard Varey. Mr. Leo Warren made a guest appearance at the talk. Other speakers in the series included Church historian Fr. Tom Walsh and top liturgist Fr. Geoff Steel.


CNC Student Anthony Smith has revealed that he's off to Chile next year. He'll be there for upto three weeks at a worldwide scout event. His sister Bernadette, an ex-student, is currently spending a year in Peru teaching English. CNC chaplain Fr. Mike Murphy has just written to her again, but he's denied it's becoming a habit.


CNC and St. Augustine's were affected by a recent lightning strike. St. Augustine's church was struck by lightning, damaging the ‘phone network and alarm system. The college's website was temporarily brought down as a result of the storm.


ENN readers have been broadcast far and wide recently. The Ed talked about the Church on Red Rose 999 for 13½ minutes, while his sister Peggy has been on the same programme twice recently. Cheryl Walton recently made her radio debut when she won two Cds and tickets to see U2 in concert on Hull-based station Viking FM


More news of outgoing staff has reached our office. Fr. Jim Clarke and Liz Parker, who have both worked at the College in recent years, are to end their work there at the end of the year.


There's been a last gasp winner for the girls in the Cronin household. Lucy's mother gave birth to Elisabeth Alice, who weighed 8lbs 11oz, on Friday 13th June. Elisabeth is the fifth girl in the family. The boys, who currently number three, had been hoping to equalise.


And finally - congratulations to new reader Miss Tracy Rose. She's recently started a new job at Holt Jackson Book Company in Lytham.
