COLLEGE GEARS UP FOR ARTS FESTIVAL

NEWS> A local arts festival opened at CNC last week after weeks of preparation by work experience students at the college. The festival is the initiative of a group of first year students who stayed at CNC during work experience week in January. Last week a Dutch theatre company performed at the college. The company, from Almelo, which is celebrating 50 years as Preston's twin town, had been due to appear at Preston College, but when they pulled out, CNC stepped in to provide a venue. Other highlights of the festival, which runs until April, include the exhibition of a painting entitled "The three fates", by Ana Maria Pacheco. The piece is usually on display in the Harris Library. There is also the possibility of bands from within the college recording a CD for sale later this year. Watch this space.
