CNC's footballers have failed in their attempt to retain their national title. They won the ESFA Cup at the Hawthorns in West Bromwich last April. They were knocked out of this year's competition - the under 19's equivalent of the FA Cup - by Winstanley College. As we went to press they were due to play the next round in the Lancashire Cup against Nelson & Colne College

Meanwhile, CNC's netball team have so far been successful in their national cup campaign. Unfortunately the team - who are the reigning national champions - don't have enough money to pay for their trip to the next round. Recent fund-raising ideas, including attempting to cover the netball court in coins, have not yet raised sufficient funds for the event.

Senior officials from inside the college are joining forces with guests from outside CNC to discuss the colleges identity and future in a ‘focus group'. The group, consisting of staff, governors and church leaders, is holding a series of meetings, but is not a decision-making body. ENN investigates focus groups in our new feature, ‘focal point'.
