CNC's victory wasn't jus down to the hard work of the staff and players - God himself lent them a hand. Sport boss Kevin Loughran confirmed the connection, saying, "We are a catholic college and it has been suggested that God's been on our side this year. I don't know, but three of the lads went down to the chapel before the semi-final to pray."

CNC's football success is part of a national sporting double for the college. Just before Easter, the college's netball team won the national championship in Sheffield.

Former CNC footballer Mel Harling has furthered her career by being appointed vice-captain of Leeds Metropolitan University's women's football team. The team reached the semi-finals of the recent national championship.

One of the parties standing in the General Election was called "West Cheshire College in crisis Party". Organisers say the crisis is not a result of them being defeated by CNC in the ESFA Cup.

Congratulations to Lucy - Cambridge University won the boat race again this year. It's hardly surprising, however, because of all the support they got from the man with the megaphone.
