Nov ? 1661: This is a petition by Thomas Woodward to
the King to be put into the house and position of “Assay Master” of
the Mint, held by his father until October 1649 when he was ousted by
John Bradshaw, so-called President of the Council of State.
On this his father went to Virginia.
The son wishes to send him the news of the Restoration and to
keep the office for him until his return or, if dead, to have the grant
of it himself. |
