This
Indenture made the
twenty seventh day of March in the year one thousand eight hundred and
twenty Between Asa Bratcher and Sally Bratcher of the one part and
Samuel Potter of the other part Witnefseth that for the
consideration of the sum of Twenty dollars to the said Asa Bratcher and
Sally Bratcher in hand paid by the said Samuel Potter at the sealing and
delivering of these presents the receipt whereof we do hereby
acknowledge and therefore doth release acquit & discharge the said
Samuel Potter his executors Administrators and afsigns by these
presents he the said Asa Bratcher and Sally Bratcher granted
bargained and Sold aliened and confirmed and by these presents doth
grant bargain sell alien and confirm unto the said Samuel Potter and his
heirs a certain piece or parcel of land situate lying and being in the
County of Craven and State of North Carolina and on the west side of the
head of Slocomb's Creek on the east prong containing by estimation
Thirty four acres The above land containing one hundred acres was
patented by William Rutledge and by him sold to Thomas Bratcher and
devised by Thomas Bratcher to his two sons William Bratcher and Benjamin
Bratcher and by their decease to Asa and Sally Bratcher it being their
share of the said one hundred acres. The above Bargained and sold
land we the said Asa Bratcher and Sally Bratcher doth by these presents
warrant and forever defend from ourselves our heirs executors
administrators or afsigns or any other person or persons claiming or
pretending to claim in any manner whatever, to the said Samuel Potter
his heirs executors administrators and afsigns to his own proper use and
benefit free and clear from any incumbrance whatsoever. In witnefs
whereof the said Asa Bratcher and Sally Bratcher hat hereunto set their
hands and Seals the day and year first above written. |

Craven County Court June Term A.D. 1821 then was the execution of the
foreging deed proved in open Court and in due form of law by the Oath of
Amos Rowe one of the subscribing Witnefses thereto Ordered that said Deed
be Registered. |
