          This day Clayborn Bradshaw a Revolutionary Soldier personally appeared in Open Court. (It being a Court of Record) For the purposes of obtaining a pension under the late act of Congrefs approved June the 7th 1832,  And made Oath that in the year 1776 he enlisted as a private for Two years under Captain Samuel Woodson then at Goochland Court house in the State of Virginia And Joined Colonel Mathews Regiment.  It being the 9th Virginia Regiment and marched to the Eastern Shores of Va, where he staid some time from thence was marched to the Eastward and Joined the main Continental army at Middlebrook under the command of General George Washington from thence was marched through Morriston to the white plains where he was stationed for some time.  He states that he was in the Battle of Brandy wine which was fought in the Month of September 1777.  and that of Germantown on the 4th day of October of the same year where his whole Regiment was either killed or taken prisoners, in this Battle Col Mathews was wounded, He farther states that he was taken form the Battle ground as a prisoner and marched to Philadelphia and confined as a prisoner in Close Jail in what was called the new prison or Jail,  for eight months and twelve days, from there was brought to Germantown and exchanged in the market house in year 1778 from thence he went to the Valley forge where he obtained an honorable discharge after having served Two years and four months in active service in the
