In
the year of our lord 1841 I John Bratcher being of sound mind but weak in
strength and elderly infirm and after willing my soul to God who give it to me.
My will and desire is that all of my debts shall be paid and then my will and
desire is that my loving wife Nancy Bratcher shall have the plantation wherin I
now live as also four negroes Gerry, Lijah, Moniah, and Deny during of her
natural life also togather with my house hold and Hitching falanity togather
with the farming eutinsials with all my stock of all the perishable property of
all kinds to be at her disposal during of her life with prudent care. I also
wish her to give security that the property shall not be destroyed nor abused
during her life. And after her death all to be sold except Gerry and he is to be
set free at liberty and after the death of my wife the money arising from the
said property to be devided between my children. This I make as my last will and
testment as witness whereof I hereunto put my hand and seal this 22nd day of May State
