A CHILD in pre-school! bad 1979 Learning how to sing a song, What is right and what is wrong, To tie his shoes and zip his coat, Draw a house, a car, a boat! At the easel he can paint, Saying "aren't instead of "ain't", Using scissors, glue and paste, Making projects without waste. Pledge allegiance to the flag, Wiping noses with a rag, Sweep the dirt up with a broom, Clean and Leave a pretty room. Plant a seed and watch it grow, "Mommy, why is it so slow?" Someday soon with love and care, "There will be a flower there" Pretty fishes in the tank. "Why does he float when rocks all sank?" "Through his gills the fish breathes water, If boys breathe air than fishy outta!" Sharing things without a fight, Admit he's wrong when he's not right, Letting others have a say, Know things can't always be "his way" Before he starts into first grade, All these discoveries he will have made, And he will see that school is fun He will grow and be A-OK!
A CHILD 2 Reads..... bgd Reciting letters A to Z To an adult seems so easy, But to a child of 5 or 6, This seems like and awful fix. But the teacher helps them at it, And slowly as the days go past, He learns to make a word at last! From this point on in his life, He'll learn to read and write, what strife, And once he learns that works can talk, Then no longer will he balk! New adventures, knowledge, friends, On and on It never ends, Words can take him any place, And he goes at his own pace! Once your child has learned to read, He will learn the rest with speed, And you may be amazed to find, What's been hidden in his mind.
