DOUGIE SHINES AT GLASGOW GIGS

April 2, 2001

Dougie fans in Glasgow got the chance to see their man in action twice during the last week of March.

On Tuesday, March 27, Dougie and crew played two acoustic sets at the Shawlands branch of the Bean Scene coffee house chain. The popular hangout was packed to the gills when Dougie and band members Mark McGhee, Sam Correy, and Laura Kinney opened with a new arrangement of "City of Shame". Other highlights of the evening were "Not Who You Seem", "Just Like Yesterday", "Railraod", "Your Hand Slipped From Mine", "Steeltown", and "Greater Than Life". Dougie and crew also wowed the crowd with a cover of the John Prine song, "People Puttin' People Down".

The action moved to the Glasgow West End branch of Bean Scene two nights later for another two set show. In the more intimate setting of the West End location, the capacity crowd enjoyed excellent sound and a great opportunity to see Dougie's magnetic stage presence from up close.

Watch out for forthcoming appearances in Edinburgh from Dougie and company, to be announced in the near future.

DOUBLE DOUGIE DATES IN GLASGOW

March 21, 2000

Two live Dougie Robertson shows in one day; it doesn't get much better than that!

Dougie and guitarist/backing vocalist Derek Fleming played a 3 song acoustic set at the Virgin Megastore in Buchanan Street, Glasgow on March 20th at 1 p.m. The boys opened with "Not Who You Seem" followed by Dougie's new ballad, "Your Hand Slipped From Mine." He explained to the crowd that the songs reflect the two sides of a relationship break-up, the positive and the negative. They rounded off the set with an acoustic reading of "Steeltown." Virgin had a large display of Dougie CD's close to the stage area, and continues to hold the exclusive on sales of the Dougie CD for the city of Glasgow.

Later that evening, Dougie and his full band played a blistering set at King Tut's in Glasgow. Again, he began with "Not Who You Seem," this time followed by "Railroad". Magnificent 3 part harmonies heralded the start of "Greater Than Life," played in the rock/hip hop style of the original demo version.

The set also included "Your Hand Slipped From Mine," "Steeltown," and an awesome extended version of "City of Shame" that ended with the band riffing at full throttle while Dougie dramatically exited the stage. All in all, it was a stunning first night performance from Dougie's brilliant new Scottish band. Dougie and the boys advise fans to watch for future acoustic and electric appearances coming soon.
