For those of you looking for a quick and easy way to view Chinese (or Japanese
or Korean) not only on the internet, but also in other applications - try a nice
little shareware program called MVIEW (MVIEW338 for Windows 95).
(Previous version was mview20).

Using MVIEW, I have written a suite of Visual Basic 4.0 programs using an
ACCESS database to create and quiz myself on characters and words (I currently have about 7200 character definitions and about 41,000 words, phrases and sentences defined in the ACCESS database)

The following site contains a link to VOA broadcasts in Mandarin. They have online transcripts in chinese with pinyin and a translation to help you with your listening comprehension and reading skills. The recorded broadcasts use RealAudio. I use this site a lot!
