This is Example One of what a dumping ground a network's so-called summer schedule can be. Set in Miami, it centres on sexy Kate Patrick (Yancy Butler), a moralistic con woman (she never steals more than she needs) who is assisted by a dreadlocked prat called Vernon (Eagle Eye Cherry). This donkey's breakfast of a show screams of being a showcase for husky-voiced Butler. She's no great shakes as an actress, but very watchable: a Joan Crawford look-alike when she's dolled up and a Brooke Shields type when she's dolled down in mini-grunge.
The plot revolves around stolen diamonds, fake diamonds, good Russians, bad Russians and a weird government agent (John Glover) who has a thing about fish. If there's one really redeeming feature in this totally dumb show, it's Patti D'Arbanville as a loopy hotel owner who keeps a fresh supply of caged lizards up to her guests' rooms. Compared with the rest, the lizards act up a storm.
