Judgment of Our Fellow Man

The practice of Karma Yoga is an integral part of my spiritual path and one of the ways in which I choose to express my devotion to my Maker.   Karma yogis believe that the individual's duty is to perform one's assigned labor without attachment to the fruits of one's labor -- the "harvest" belongs to God alone.

Sometimes the harvest is not readily discernable to the eye.   Other times the harvest is unmistakeable and its magnitude fills me with awe and humility -- especially when it teaches me not to judge or criticize God's other laborers.

I watched a film biography about a man who, for most of his life, cared nothing for work and nothing for serving humanity.   His only concern was for personal gain and gracious living and hobnobbing with the rich and powerful.   He seemed like a walking bundle of qualities that we may regard unredeeming in a human being.   Yet, at some point, this made him God's perfect instrument for a job that God wanted him to do.   And the harvest that this man yielded is a thousand times more than I think I will produce in my lifetime.   His name was Oskar Schindler.
