This is our dance held most first Saturday evenings on the West Side of Los Angeles -- 'drum' being one of many Regency words for party -- under the name of Miss Susan Haseltine, who was our hostess for many years, and still joins us. Lindberg Park hall is in Culver City, 5041 Rhoda Way at Virginia Avenue (Thomas Bros. map book Page 672 at G-4). Culver City uses the hall for children's recreation during much of the year. The floor is good; there is a kitchen we can use, and room for period card games, books to buy, and similar ornaments.

Dancing begins at 7:30 p.m. and goes until 11:30 or midnight. Admission $5. Light refreshments. Costume of about the year 1800 is welcome, but not required. We try to accommodate both beginners and the more experienced in the course of the evening by teaching some dances thoroughly, some only by prompting, and some not at all; most teaching by our dauntless Choreographer, John Hertz.

For the remainder of 2007 we expect to dance on most of the following dates:

November 3rd December 1st
Please check our 2008 Drum Schedule.

Comments, suggestions, blame and praise are as welcome as we can manage, and will be studied. For a while we held lessons for more advanced dancers before the Drum at 6:30 p.m. on some evenings; there has been talk of resuming these, also of a class for teachers; either or both are possible if enough wish them: comment?
