How time flies when you're having fun.
Sometimes I wonder if the ponies intentionally planned their activities to coincide with the buildup of Y2K hysteria. They certainly caught me at a time when I had to be ready to fix things that other people added to my code. I really had an excuse to not attend functions that I would normally attend.
Now that the worst of the hype is over, I can get back to some pet projects that had been putting bread on the table and hay in the barn. Many of the projects were kept alive because I was able to work on them while fixing everybody's mistakes. (I've strived to write Y2K compatible code since 1983. It was hard to deal with the ridicule, but I kept at it.)
This backlog will keep me busy through the end of the year so I don't have to worry about disappointing friends with my non-appearance. While many of these friends are good people, I don't quite trust them to behave well when confronted with a centaur.
So for now I'm getting back into being a homebody whose main connection to the world is a modem and a phone.
We are planning on an anniversary party tomorrow to celebrate the arrival of Pearl. She has, despite what she did to me, become a member of the household. So have Anenome and Shamu. (Good grief, it has been two whole years since Pearl was delivered to the house.)
When you get down to it, I like being in their company. I also like the company of the other centaurs they created. There is something about a herd that puts your mind at ease.
Now is that some sort of mind control? Or is it simply a behavioral manifestation of a genetic imperative?
It was abnormal behavior for me once upon a time when I was a man with two legs. That makes me think of how things have changed internally and externally.
I'll probably continue this line of talk at a later time and date. Until then, take care.
