WWWCentaur Board Posting # 754
BACKGROUND:
About two months ago I was a happily married human male in the Eastern Washington/Northern Idaho area. Now I think I'm becoming a centaur MARE!
The process started shortly after my wife bought a Shetland pony to train. The pony was delivered while she was on an all day trail ride with the kids. I had a deadline to meet so it wasn't a problem for me to stay at home, pounding on the keyboard while waiting for the pony.
I was in the middle of a really sticky logic problem when the pony arrived. Welcoming the break, I left my basement office and met the woman delivering the pony. We talked a bit while I made sure that the pony was comfortable with her new surroundings. I then gave her the check my wife left and she rode off on her horse. (Arabian bay mare--Beautiful confirmation)
When I got the pony in the paddock I realized that the logic problem was really a stupid mistake. I then hurried back to my office and corrected the one line of code that was bass-ackwards. The pony started to whinny while the compile was running.
I ignored the noise while testing the part that I had corrected. Then the whinny changed to a cry of panic.
I ran to the paddock to find that the pony had tried slipping through a gap in the paddock gate and was stuck. It took a while to wrestle her free. I then had to treat the scrapes we both got in the process.
A couple of days later I came down with what I thought was a bad case of the flu. It lasted a week and put me flat on my back. (I'm usually as healthy as a, pardon, horse.)
Then I started changing. I grew a mane that went from the middle of my forehead to the small of my back. Then I started growing horse hide from the waist to my toes. At that point we contacted some good friends at a nearby university to see if they had any idea what was happening. They came by and took tissue and fluid samples.
A month after the pony was delivered my tail bones started becoming an equine tail, complete with long tail hairs. By that time my mane and hide were thick enough that my wife and kids decided that the pony and I were blood sisters.
At the time I joked that we couldn't be blood sisters because I was a man. Two weeks later I started losing my beard. Then my wife noticed that my voice was sounding higher and my chest was starting to swell.
Today I look like and sound like a young woman with some rather odd features. And, according to our friends at the university, the features are going to get odder. (An ultrasound is showing an odd structure developing in the pelvic area.)
QUESTIONS:
Has this happened to anybody else?
Any clues as to what may happen next?
How much contact should I have with the authorities?
Is there any medical research out there concerning my condition?
