Kurds ,Any hope for future?

In a modern society first impression is the most important one. It take a lot of energy to correct a wrong impression. The problem with Kurds in the past was that they weren’t able to get attention of the developed countries in their effort for self-determination and autonomy. They didn’t work hard enough on their image.

One other main problem with Kurds is that they are divided among themselves. They neutralize each other. They developed an image that democratic world was reluctant to support them .

Kurds have a lot of interesting characteristics in their culture. They have a different perception about religion than other nations in middle east. Kurds aren’t fundamentalist and don’t belief in mixing up religion with politics. One has to realize that if you can’t solve your problems alone you need to get help. They can’t get help from countries like Iran or Iraq, because of their past records. Not from those who kill you brothers like in Iran. After the Gulf War, Kurds missed their great chance to establish their own country. They were not ready at that time.

Is a second chance going to come? Probably yes, as we know history repeats itself. Hopefully, Kurds will be more careful with that chance. What do they need to do differently? They need to work on their image.

Kurds have been fighting for many generations without success, maybe its time to reconsider their way of fighting. They need to shift their efforts for a better future and self determination from an armed resistance to a peaceful alternative.

Their alternative is in educating their children. The Kurdish leader in Iran, Iraq, and democratic world, and affluent Kurds abroad have to invest their energy in the young generation. They might be able to get support easier for this purpose than for other purposes. The result is not going to be immediate, but in the long run it will be very efficient.

Kurds need to show the world that they can be an alternative to dictatorships in the region and they can provide a great deal of help to Europe and the United States to monitor dictators in the region. Any progress in life comes slowly. Everyone has to start from a fixed point and move on to the next step.

The other good thing that goes for Kurds is that Kurd’s enemies, especially Iran and Iraq are not popular among the world powers. The World is afraid of their rage and their terrorist activities. When they become weaker, the chance for Kurds as a real alternative will increase more.
