These are stone statues of the guardian deity, Jizo. Their purpose is to watch over deceased babies and see them peacefully on their way to heaven. Mothers who have lost or aborted a child provide the red bibs.

" Peaceful Journey" is one in a series of photographs depicting life in Japan. As an artist, I enjoy the hands-on experience of painting directly on my prints. By highlighting the focal points, I’m able to present an image that’s unique and distinguishable from coloured photographs.

Greeting cards are ¥250 each.
