Life Is Short and Love Is Real
Some autumn leaves have turned to gold,
the ones so new and green last May,
while others sense they’re growing old
on this October-orange day,
as memories born on kinship’s shore
lie just beneath the shadowed ledge,
where each pulls back the veil no more
than courage yields toward the edge
of who we were and who we are,
so intricate, our human race . . .
each journey marked by fading scars
and lines that hallow every face.
This looking back - and then ahead,
like balancing life’s turning wheel,
shows all we’ve learned when all is said,
is “life is short and love is real ! ”
