BIG Butterfly
(for Rod, the east TEXAS poet)

A butterfly so big and high
our little eyes could see -
    enormous wings came wafting by,
they seemed too huge "to be"!

We thought we'd chase this butterfly
    and maybe catch it too.
It seemed as big as all the sky
    and swallowed up the blue!

    Huge butterflies make fairy tales
    for children such as we,
    when BIG imagination sails
    upon its magic sea -
