What is a Congress?
What is it like to attend an IARF Congress? There are devotions in different religious traditions each day. In Vancouver these will be held in the morning and in the early evening. There are speakers most mornings, except for the day that the interfaith service is held. Study groups also meet most morning to address specific concerns related to the theme of the Congress.
At noon half the Congress eats lunch while the other half meets in small groups to share experiences and ideas. After an hour, those who ate first meet in small groups while the others have their lunch. The last part of the afternoon is filled with workshops on a wide variety of topics. Congress participants attend the workshop of their choice.
In the evening participants enjoy cultural events and time to visit with old and new friends. Most of the participants will stay on the UBC campus, so it will be easy to take a walk, get a bit to eat, or just "hang out."
The opening ceremony of the Congress will set the tone for the rest of the program, and the closing ceremony will allow the young adult participants in the Congress to suggest how the Congress might be carried back home and "lived out" locally.
But no one can tell you what the 30th IARF Congress will be like - FOR YOU! So, plan to participate and find out for yourself.
