The International Association for Religious Freedom holds regional conferences and a triennial Congress. In 1993 the IARF Congress was held in Bangalore, India where a coalition was forged between Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Christians, Jains, and tribals - who committed themselves to the peaceful resolution of conflict. In 1996 the IARF Congress was held in Iksan City, the Republic of Korea. A closing service for peace was held at the DMZ that divides North and South Korea. • IARF International Congress in  Budapest, Hungary, from 28 July - August 2002 
  
  • Keynote speakers on the topic of religious freedom from different continents will share their perspectives on today’s challenges.
  • A series of seminars arranged by the European members of IARF will allow participants to hear the voices of those who have struggled for religious freedom in Europe.
  • A renowned author on religious matters in Europe, Dr. Karel Blei, former General Secretary of the Dutch Reformed Church, will give a lecture linked to the Congress Book.
  • Lectures and workshops will focus on practical topics such as developing a voluntary code of conduct for religious organisations; harnessing information technology for religious freedom; creating effective programmes; and current trends in religious education.
  • A forum for international interfaith encounter will include opportunities to learn about the practices and teachings of other faiths. Small Circle Groups will allow people to meet informally to discuss their beliefs, religious experiences and religious freedom issues.
  • Young Adult Programme starts on 26 July 2002 and continues through the Congress
