Leaves: Dark glossy green. The species in the photo is Ceanothus griseus 'Horizontalis' -- called Carmel Creeper. Notice the pattern of creases in the leaves.
Flowers: White, violet, light to intense blue in early spring
Exposure: Sun or light shade
Water: Drought tolerant once established; little or no summer water
Soil: Must have good drainage; subject to root and crown rot
Fertilizer: Fertilize in the fall or not at all
Prune: Prune to control size
Problems: Aphids, root and crown rotMany species from shrub covers to small trees. They are short lived and do not like summer water once established.
