Origin: Mediterranean


 
Hardiness: Hardy to 15 degrees; Zones 8b-9-10
Growth: Growth rate is medium to rapid to 3 to 5 feet tall
Form: Mounded shape; as wide as it is tall
Leaves: Up to 4 inches by 3/4 inches; dark green; grayish beneath
Flowers: White with crimson spot on each petal; 3 inches across
Fruit or Seeds:
Exposure: Full sun; good at coast or inland
Water: Very low water needs once established
Soil: Tolerates watering if soil drains well
Fertilizer: No need to fertilize
Prune: Thin or head back, but do not cut back beyond present growth
Problems: Few problems

These plants put on a colorful display in late spring. They can be neglected, but they respond quickly to minimal care. Very compatible with California native plants.
