Juniperus chinensis 'Pfitzerana'

Hardiness: Hardy to 0 degrees; USDA Zones 7, 8, 9 and 10
Growth: Medium rate of growth to 5 feet by 15 feet
Form: A large, flat, spreading mound
Leaves: Tiny, medium green scales
Flowers: Gray, 1/3 inch berries in the fall
Exposure: Full sun
Water: Deep water monthly once established
Soil: Well drained preferred
Fertilizer: Not needed
Prune: Cut long stems back to laterals in the spring
Problems: Mites, aphids, scale, borers possible; root rot

This is a large plant, not for small properties. Give it space! Use it a large-scale ground cover if you have the room. The variety 'Pfitzerana Aurea' is golden yellow. 'Pfitzerana Glauca' is silver blue.
