Hardiness: Hardy in USDA Zones 7, 8, 9 and 10
Growth: Moderate growth to 5 feet
Form: Forms a compact mound with arching branches
Leaves: 1 to 2 inch, oval, light green; new growth reddish
Flowers: Inch long white or red clusters in spring
Exposure: Full sun at coast, fun or part shade inland
Water: Needs regular watering
Soil: Prefers a well drained, organic soil; mulch
Fertilizer: Acid fertilizer after bloom
Prune: Thin and cut back lightly after bloom on larger plants
Problems:

Loropetalum chinense rubrum has red flowers and reddish new leaves. Flowers have four twisted petals that appear like a fringe at the tips of the stems.
