Antoine "Fats" Domino was born on February 26, 1928.  So he was a bit beyond the teenybopper stage when early rock and roll fame came his way.  Fats' recording career dates back to the late-1940's, beginning with a tune entitled (what else?) "The Fat Man."

In addition to such rhythm and blues hits as "Ain't It A Shame," and "I'm Walkin," Fats had a great deal of success with the reworking of old pop standards such as "Blueberry Hill" and "When My Dreamboat Comes Home."

Fats Domino continues to maintain New Orleans as his base and it is still possible to see him in live performance on occasion.  You can keep track of his scheduled performances at the Pollstar web site.
