Cape Cross is the breeding place for these cape fur seals. There are
thousands of them lazing on the beach and is a spectacular sight. These mammals are a
noisy lot and have a strong fishy odor that stayed on my jacket for days after the visit.
It is about 1½ hr drive from Swakopmund. The roads are mostly tarred and in excellent
condition even though the map classified them as C.
