Car Rental
We rented the car from AVIS in Cape Town. Their rental fees isn't cheap but they allow one-way drop off in Windhoek and the fees are much cheaper than others.
Unlike smaller companies that offer cheaper rates, they have offices in major towns. So you can expect a fast replacement of vehicle in case it breaks down (like ours).
Throughout the trip we saw many campervans from BRITZ. Rental fees is very affordable considering the equipments and facilities that come with the vehicle.

EcoAfrica
If you prefer to join an overland safari, you can find many tour companies here. In fact, my itinerary is modified from one commonly used by these companies.
Drifters seems to offer value for money. We saw many groups from Drifters during the trip. You can also book their tour through Country Holidays in Singapore.

Kamieskroon Hotel (South Africa)
If you want to see the wild flowers in Namaqualand, you can get lots of information from this hotel. The photo workshop conducted by Ms Colla Swart and Freeman Paterson is held in this hotel.
For accomodation, you can opt for either a hotel room or a campsite.

Ministry of Enviornment & Tourism (Namibia)
Check out the various national parks owned by MET. You can also email them for your resort bookings.
Make your payment 2 months before you go for the trip so that you will receive the receipt in time. If not, you can ask them to fax you the receipt.

Travel Tips

When to go

Namibia
Winter is the dry season with pleasant weather to travel in the desert. It is also a good time to see the wild animals gathering at the waterholes in Etosha. These areas will be extremely hot between December and March.
Sossusvlei
sometimes it get flooded during early part of the year. You get fantastic photo opportunities with reflections from puddles of water!

Cape Town
You can go any time of the year. If you go in spring, you'll get to see wild flowers around.
To see the wild flowers in Namaqualand, you have to go in Spring around Sep. However, the bloom varies from year to year dependant on the rain. So check it out first if you are only going there for the wild flowers.

Money
You don't need to carry too much cash with you. ATMs are readily availabe in major towns and most resturants and shops accepts credit cards. Exchange Rate

Maps
There are travel infomation centres in almost every town that will give you a map of the area.
MET in Namibia (and the infomation centre in Springbok, South Africa) gives you a very detailed road map of the whole Namibia. The map was my bible to drive in Namibia.

Driving
A normal 2 wheel drive will get you to most of the places of interest though I would prefer a 4WD campervan if I were to do it again.
Drive cautiously on gravel road. Try to limit your speed below 100km, especially when negotiating a band.
