The Sandalwood Princess

"The sorrow of leaving her beloved India after five splendid years is lessened considerably for vivacious Amanda Cavencourt by a thoughtful parting gift from her dearest friend: an exquisite statue of a princess carved from sandalwood. That very night, however, the statue is stolen by the notorious rogue known as the Falcon. Amanda wonders why a man employed by governments to undertake their most dangerous and delicate missions would indulge in petty thievery. Intrigued by the mystery - and rumors of the Falcon's devilish charm and good looks - Amanda sets out on the trail of the brazen blackguard. The handsome thief is about to discover he has met his wily match in Amanda. And a perfect match it is indeed!"

This was one of the best regencies I've ever read. The characters are well defined and excellently motivated. The hero, the Falcon, is captivating. It's fast paced with the dialogue we have come to expect from Loretta. I believe it is one of her very best.
