Midi entitled "Kiss From a Rose"

Cuz...Booptie is my little kissy bug!

My Second Puddytat

This is Booptie's story. It all began in September 1987. My father called me to tell me a mother cat had shown up at his office/warehouse on the outskirts of east Dallas and she had with her...five little kittens. When I found out the a couple of them were orange tabbies, I just had to go take a peek at them. We already had Bubba and he was this GREAT orange tabby. So, we figured any orange tabby would be just like Bubba. So, we zoomed over to his office and there was this darling little dark orange tabby boy who came running up to me as soon as I got out of the car. Well, that did it! He was my new son. We scooped him up and home we went to show Bubba his new brother. Needless to say...their first meeting didn't go real well. But, Bubba has a heart of gold and he won Booptie over in a matter of minutes.

We can only guess that Momma & her five male kittens had been dumped in the field near my Dad's office and had survived there for weeks. Good news is that homes were found for all kitties and Momma, too!

That night that we brought Booptie home we discovered that he was crawling with fleas and had a nasty case of diarrhea. He was really scared and wouldn't sleep unless I was right there with him. So, I woke up the next morning(on the couch)with kitten poopie all around me. It was lovely! It's a wonder I wasn't covered with fleas, too!

Well, it turns out that Booptie didn't know what a litter box was for and to this day...still hasn't figured that one out. But, he goes outside in our backyard every morning and evening and does his business there. Thank goodness!

When he was two years old, Booptie came down with a terrible case of diarrhea. Terrible because he didn't understand what was going on and every time he had an attack...he would run through the house spraying poopie everywhere! The Vet tried all kinds of antibiotics on him and nothing seemed to work. The weeks of antibiotics took it's toll on Booptie and it turned out that they had killed off all the good bacteria in his digestive system and we had to feed him yougart to build it back up again. Then, all of a sudden he started coughing nonstop and was treated again with antibiotics! Nothing seemed to stop the coughing and I got frantic. We decided it was time to change Vets and took him to what turned out to be the greatest Vet I've ever known. Dr. Maggie listened to Booptie's breathing for a few seconds and knew immediately that he had asthma. She treated him for asthma and after many months of steriods...the diarrhea was gone and so was the asthma! He very rarely has bouts of diarrhea and when he does...I have to get out the carpet cleaner. But, he's a pretty healthy boy these days. I owe it all to Dr. Maggie. I truly believe she saved his life. She has since moved to Oklahoma and I miss her terribly.

That's pretty much Booter's story. He keeps to himself mostly. But, always comes and sits in Momma's lap every night. If we leave him out in the back yard too long, he always comes in the door just a talkin' away. He really chews us out, sometimes. He's the only cat I have that seems to carry on conversations with us. If you talk to him...he talks right back at ya! And, he loves to kiss his Momma. When he's in my lap, all I have to do is pucker up and he gives me big kitty kisses. He's Momma's little Kissy Bug.
