The Flight

A Poem by Laurence David Sterling III

The springtime breezes stole in to my life picked me up and sent me skyward. That which kept me earthbound vanished, lost in a flicker of time. Now only the clouds know my name. Only the blue sky is my home. birds my sole cohorts in this my freedoms venture. Where once earth held me, it shall hold me no more. I have learned to fly, and shall never return to it. Let me love and be loved, sing and be sung of, let freedom be my quest and the heavens my delight. Until old and feeble, I shall plummet only to be snatched up by angels with larger wings
