Race Rigging, for Fun and Profit
by M.L. Morgan
Well, race fans, it’s been all over town about race-rigging in Winston Cup and I’ve had my fill of this crap. I’ve listened idly by the side for too long. It’s time for you to hear the real story.
A few wannabe race writers have jumped on this absurd notion that Cup races are fixed. I’m truly sorry they are so limited they can’t fill their columns with something of value - or at least something with a hint of validity.
I’ve watched this sorry spectacle for too long. I’m really upset.
The very idea anyone associated with Nascar would throw a race is preposterous beyond words. These inane accusations come from idiots who have no idea what Winston Cup racing is all about. I won’t further their non-careers by naming them . But I can.
I don’t often speak highly of Nascar for several reasons, primarily because of their weekly rules changes. That’s absurd. Nascar should have done their homework during the off-season. I can find no justification for implementing a drastic rule change like the 5 & 5 rule during Speed Weeks. That was really bad, even for Nascar.
That isn’t the issue right now. I’m appalled so many morons , masquerading as race reporters, could even report, with a straight face, that Winston Cup racing might be corrupted.
This is not professional wrestling. This is a big business which would be ruined if even a hint of race-fixing were ever proved. That’s why it doesn’t happen.
Nasacar’s growing popularity has made it an attractive subject for writers who don’t have a clue who drives the #36 car. Or any other car. That’s another bunch of crap. A lot of these punks didn’t say a peep until race reporting became “politically correct”. “Let’s write a column about racing, Bruce, nobody seems to care about skating backwards since the Olympics are over”.
Now they want to say Winston Cup Racing is rigged? Spare me, please. I have a little problem with that. Excuse me, I have a BIG problem with that. These “writers” can’t count their toes and come up with the same total twice. I’m being polite. Trust me.
Now I want one of these “writers” to convince me how the races are rigged. We can duel with swords or words. I’m flexible.
Remember if you didn’t read it in Race Views, it was probably wrong.
