2. Annetta CANALE was born in 1861/62 in Northern Italy. Later moved to Messina Italy She immigrated in 1880. She was also known as Anna. Zachary's birth certificate shows that he was Annetta's first child.

She was married to Domenico MOLLICA. Domenico MOLLICA was born on Sep 16 1859 in Eolie Islands, Sicily. He immigrated in 1880. He resided 529 Broome St in Sep 1888 in NY, NY. He was a Newspaper Proprietor in 1904 in New York City, New York, USA. He resided 9 Bradbury St in 1920 in Medford, Mass, USA. The 1920 census listed the names and ages as Domenic (age 60) and Anna (age 58). He died about 1931/32 in Santa Barbara, CA, USA?. On 10/31/1931 Zachary wrote a letter on stationary from the Santa Barbara Biltmore Hotel that said "papa is showing signs of senility and failing health." He was also known as Dominick. 1) Lived in Messina Sicily
2) One of the five founders of the Sons of Italy in New York City and Philadelphia.
3) Published semi-monthly newpaper called Il Messaggiero Eolio from 276 First Avenue, New York City. Bob has a copy of the edition from February 10, 1904.
Annetta CANALE and Domenico MOLLICA had the following children:

child+4 i. Zaccaria Amerigo MOLLICA.
child5 ii. Italo MOLLICA served in the military between 1914 and 1918 in Europe. Italo died fighting in the Italian Army during a German poisonous gas attack. He died in Europe during World War I. 1) Italo returned to Italy from America to join the Italian Army in WWI.
2) He was a prizefighter, and used to chase off the thugs from the Black Hand who were trying to extort money from Domenic; unfortunately, the Black Hand did get to Domenic with a bullet in the stomach once.
child6 iii. Beatrice Marie MOLLICA was born on Mar 27 1895 in Entre Rios, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Never married She emigrated in Jun 1899 from Argentina. She immigrated in Jun 1899 to New York City, New York, USA. She resided 38 Hancock St. between 1927 and 1936 in Boston, MA. She was naturalized on Dec 16 1940 in Boston, MA. On December 16, 1940 Bea's Oath of Allegiance described her as being white, of medium complexion, with gray eyes and dark brown hair. She was 67" tall and weighed 138 pounds. She died on Feb 23 1968 in South Yarmouth, MA. She was living June 1899 - September 1913 in New York City, New York, USA. She was living October 12, 1913-? in Boston, MA. She was living September-October 1913 in Fitchburg, MA, USA. She had Social Security Number 010-14-3983. Beatrice was the first female pharmacist in the state of Massachusetts. In her Petition for Naturalization, filed on July 10, 1940, Bea listed her residence as 38 Hancock Street in Boston, and her occupation as pharmacist... female...white...brunette...blue eyes...dark brown hair...height 67"...weight 140 lbs. She said she was born in Entre Rios Buenos Aires Argentina on March 27, 1895, and came to the USA aboard the SS Byron in June 1890. She gives her nationality as Argentinian and her race as Italian!

Witnesses to her petition was a salesman named Leo J. Zilg, who also
lived at 38 Hancock St (was it an apartment building?) and a probation
officer named Florence Whelan, who lived at 51 Hancock St.
child+7 iv. Manleo John Attilio MOLLICA.
child8 v. Virginia MOLLICA. Died at a very early age, according to John (Manlio); however, Social Security archives list a Virginia Mollica who was born on July 4, 1901 and died in April 1984. Her last residence was in Lexington, MA, USA. A coincidence?
