Social Security Death Index shows Jane's birthdate to be 11-28-1891, but on her
application for a Social Security Number on September 30, 1941 she said she was
born on November 28, 1896 in NYC. A search of the NYC archives for all five boroughs
in NYC in 1896 produced no record of Jane's birth. She was a Hospital Housekeeping
Manager in 1950 in Waltham, MA. She resided 1906E El Segundo Blvd between 1969
and 1971 in El Segundo, CA, USA. She died on Oct 1 1971 in El Segundo, CA, USA.
Jane died at the Hollypark Hosptiatal located at 2501 El Segundo Blvd in El
Segundo, California in Los Angeles County. She had lived in LA County for 3-1/2
years and in California for 9-1/2 years at the time of her death. She died of
arteriosclerotic heart disease (coronary) and donated her body to medical science.
She was cremated at the University of Southern California's School of Dentistry
and Anatomy on October 8, 1971. The name and address of the informant on her
death certificate is given as AAA Hearse Co. in Van Nuys, California. She had
Social Security Number 029-12-0301. She was also known as Jane. She was also
known as Jeanette. Giovanna used the Americanized name 'Jane,' even on official
documents, as indicated by her application for a Social Security number (although
her son Robert listed her as Jeanette on his Social Security application). She
gave her name as Jane Tricoli Mollica and said she lived and worked at Corey
Hill Hospital in Boston, Mass. Her father's name she wrote as Joseph Tricoli.
Her mother's name was Josephine Ponce De Leon - which is Spanish, not Italian.
The application is dated September 30, 1941 and she gave her age on that date
as 44 (the second 4 is messed up a little, like she originally wrote 42 and
then made the 2 a 4). Jane listed her birthday as being November 28, 1896 - but
the Social Security Death Index gives her birth year as 1891. She listed her
birthplace as being in New York, NY, but her son's birth certificate gives her
birthplace as Italy and the Mollica family's oral history from John Mollica indicates
somewhere near Naples Italy. Interestingly, Jane checked the 'widower' category
instead of 'divorced' - her husband Zachary died in 1938, three years before
this application, but he was married to Esme Lucas at the time.
