A World No Longer Seen

by Joey Mollica

The deer runs wild,
The wolf is free,
The streams are pure,
The leaves, grass green,
A voice calls out from a sky of blue,
A voice of a girl,
No one knows who,
She cries a story,
One of a plan,
That once included,
Fellow man,
She tells the tale,
Of a world of green,
A world nowadays,
No longer seen,
She tells the tale,
Of a mystical land,
Where Nature lived with animal,
Where Nature lived with man,
This land is gone now,
Very rare to be found,
But your nose must be keen,
But make no mistake,
This world does exist,
But to find it soon,
We must make a difference,
Maybe one day soon,
As the wolf runs free,
The streams will be pure,
The leaves will be green,
Most like the world,
No longer seen.

In 1998 Joey was a 12-year old boy who wrote this poem so he could get extra credit in English class in school - extra credit for next year, not last year. Joe is holding this poem in reserve for a day when he forgets to bring in his homework and needs extra credit. Only Joey would think of doing this..! [Rick]
